The Initial Thought

Being the fitness advocate that I am, I was very excited having ordered the pair of Bose SoundSport wireless bluetooth sport earphones. My running and cycling needed a well deserved upgrade and I couldn't wait for such a high quality branded pair of earphones.  I have to say so far I've been very impressed and these definitely compete for the No 1 Best Wireless Sport Earphones.

The Bose SoundSport earphones come in premium packaging. Just the aesthetics of this box gives the message that they are high quality sport earphones. It seems to be that they have made the packaging so nice that the user can keep the earphones safe whilst not using them. The packaging contains the earphones, a small carry bag, two different sized tips and a charger. At a first glance, the sport earphones didn't look so sporty as they are very bulky. This is the only downside to the earphone, they look like they will fall out constantly whilst running or cycling. However, I was soon proven wrong by the capabilities of these earphones.

The Design

There are many ups and downs to this product but definitely more ups than downs which make it really worthwhile. The design has a pleasant aesthetic and proves to be very deceiving.

Some of the pros of the design include: The wire being designed neatly so that it's not flying about everywhere whilst vigorously exercising. They have a very snug fit into the ear and there's no movement of the sport earphones whilst running or cycling. There are also intuitive voice prompts which are very beneficial.

Some of the cons include: The Bose SoundSport wireless bluetooth earphones are much bulkier than the regular sport earphones. The controls are still used through the microphone and this can be annoying.

Pros +

  • Snug fit
  • Well designed wire
  • Intuitive voice prompts

Cons -

  • Very bulky
  • Controls through microphone

Design Rating - 9/10

The Connection

The Bose SoundSport wireless bluetooth sport earphones connect wirelessly via bluetooth. The bluetooth technology today is very good compared to that of 10 years ago and these earphones can reach up to 60ft. The connectivity is very strong as there is very rarely skipping of the music whilst running, cycling or exercising. I find that having your phone or music player on the right side of your body holds a stronger connection. The bulky design of the Bose SoundSport earphones is required to provide this strong connectivity.

Connection Rating - 10/10

The Battery Life

Bose states that their wireless sport earphones have up to 6 hours of playback time. This isn't the best for constant play time but in real time it lasts at least a week. The battery life of this product is proven to be very strong for wireless earphones.

Battery Life Rating - 10/10

The Sound

Now before I rant about the sound, wireless sport earphones aren't designed for optimum music quality. The focus is on the comfort, connectivity, battery life and then the quality of sound is included. The bass of the Bose SoundSport wireless earphones isn't quite there, as a sports earphone it's beneficial to include very good bass tones to feel the beat as you exercise. The mids are standard, there's nothing special which is noticeable. Finally, the highs are pitch perfect with the sound quality remaining the same with the highest notes.

Sound Rating - 9/10

Overall

Overall, the Bose SoundSport wireless earphones compete as one of the best sport earphones I have come across. With an overall rating of 9.5, you should definitely consider these earphones if you're looking for your own quality pair to exercise with. I plan on using mine for the rest of my running days and I hope will do the same. They are available on Amazon for just £149.95

Overall Rating - 9.5
